Astrology for Growth: Can we really enjoy our life in time?

The tagline for Astrology for Growth” is ‘enjoying your life in time.”  I debated between that and “living life on purpose in time.” The latter is  philosophically closer to the astrology I’m seeking to practice: to encourage clients to understand and live with more confidence in their lives.  So you’re having a Saturn transit to your moon and you’re depressed and lonely? The good news is that you’re in perfect astrological health.  You’re right on schedule to get clear about what your real emotional needs are and what you need to take care of yourself.  Loneliness and depression are dark woods, and sometimes we need time in a dark wood to open up to new places. Sometimes, in order to grow forward, we need to let go of what is familiar and comforting in its familiarity. So can you and I “enjoy” loneliness and depression? Probably not. But can we meet our vulnerable selves in ways that help us rebuild our emotional security and wellbeing? Yes, I think we can.

At the time of this writing, I’m experiencing a Saturn transit to my midheaven. Honestly, it’s often excruciating. But the purpose of this timely transit is to help me get clear on what I’m offering at this time in the world.  I can easily get overwhelmed and judgmental towards myself.  Or I can  call to order the committee that meets in my head at 2 AM and say "Instead of fugues of self-doubt and criticism (the shadow side of Saturn),  I want to hear some educated helpful suggestions to help do Saturn well." Working with Saturn means  taking steps  towards what is useful, authentic, and meaningful.  Think of it as a renovation, a restructuring that often requires some loss of existing structure and  the need for careful preparation in building a new foundation and structure. Astrologer Caroline Casey has a great line: "cooperators are standing by."  It's my experience and observation that when we actively engage with the energies signified by planetary transits and progressions, we  do grow in our confidence, joy and capacity to connect in the world. And-- I don't say this lightly-- even depressions may serve a role in that.
